About the Collection of HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH DR. SULTAN BIN MOHAMMED ALQASIMI

The Collection of manuscripts at the Islamic Manuscripts House is one of the most valuable historic manuscripts collected by His Highness; Ruler of Sharjah during his visits to various countries around the world and donated to the Islamic Manuscripts House. The Islamic Manuscripts House includes many collections of books varying between Islamic Fiqh, Hadith, Tafsir, Arabic language, astronomy, mathematics, medicine and pharmacology, in addition to original rare manuscripts of the Holy Qur’an.

HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH DR. SULTAN BIN MOHAMMED ALQASIMI has donated various batches to the Islamic Manuscripts House. He always speaks passionately and informatively about each book and every paper and manuscript. Each paper of a manuscript has its own history, significance, meaning, intention and relation to other papers. When he speaks about a missing paper in a book, he edifyingly and amusingly talks about sources, where it was, and how far it has reached.

HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH DR. SULTAN BIN MOHAMMED ALQASIMI is like an extraordinary researcher when it comes to history; that’s why he always refers to the importance of supporting Arabic manuscripts in general through Islamic Manuscripts House and Sharjah Department of Culture.

Each donated batch is a valuable scientific addition to the Islamic Manuscripts House as it provides new manuscripts in the form of books covering Qur’anic sciences, the biography of Prophet Muhammad and Arabic language written by great writers of each historical period. Such manuscripts are valuable scientific resources available for all students, researchers and scholars of different fields.

At the Inauguration Ceremony, His Highness says “Today, at this precious place dear for me and for many researchers of history, Islamic Fiqh, astronomy, medicine and other fields of science, we inaugurate this edifice, under the blessings of Allah, which contains around 1,500 rare and valuable manuscripts in different fields mainly in the Arabic language being available for scientific research”.

“A manuscript many contains some errors, we don’t have to accept it as is. We have to scrutinize and verify thereof while identifying the right approach. Such manuscripts are, but the beginning. We have around 1,500 manuscripts, all the manuscripts I had, only. We hope that science lovers donate more and that we acquire more manuscripts to provide a valuable material for researchers” he adds.
