The resources of the Islamic Manuscripts House can be used by all scholars, researchers and students, whether they are registered students, researchers or interested in manuscripts.

 

The Manuscripts House consists of several rooms that are specially designed to serve different purposes.

  • Investigation and Publishing room.
  • Original manuscript reading room (men and women).
  • Digital manuscripts reading room (men and women).
  • Print room (men and women).
  • Preservation of rare publications room.
  • Periodicals room.

 

Visitors, researchers and interested in manuscripts:

Any visitor can wander in the exhibition and see the exhibits kept in glass cabinets for manuscript preservation during official hours.

The researcher or the student can use the research rooms, or see periodicals related to manuscripts and heritage in the house, without the need to book or register, as all the visitor needs is to go directly to the reception at the Manuscripts House and record his main information, attached with a copy of the UAE identity.

If you want to access the original or digital manuscripts and use the manuscript reading rooms, please refer to the conditions and procedures. You must submit a request and set a specific date; to coordinate the presence of a relevant employee to carry out the service. You can view only one manuscript at the same time, and the manuscript may not be viewed outside the designated rooms.

It is permitted to use the printing room to photocopy or copy the manuscript or part thereof, provided that this is done by the relevant employee. Copies are subject to copyright policy and intellectual property rights considerations.

 

Educational and Academic Institutions

The manuscripts in the house reflect a great diversity, provide rich scientific material, and unlimited possibilities for researchers, scholars and teachers alike.

The Manuscript House welcomes teachers, academic staff and lecturers who want to make use of the resources of the Islamic Manuscripts House to enrich their educational experience. The recipient is able to link the theoretical material to practical facts, inspect real manuscripts and see live examples that reinforce scientific facts and contribute to the cultural, literary and historical scene of multiple periods.

The Islamic Manuscripts House has equipped rooms for seminars, as well as a medium-sized theater with a capacity of about 50 people and is equipped with a computer and a projector screen with an advanced sound system.

You can book an appointment for a course or multiple visits during a particular semester, by contacting the management of the house through various means of communication.

 

There are two options available for conducting seminars in the Manuscripts House:

  • The instructor can conduct the session by selecting the manuscripts to suit the subject to be discussed. A specialized technician will provide the required manuscripts, provided that the instructor shall be responsible for the safety of the manuscripts, and make sure that students are aware of the procedures governing manuscript handling. Procedures and details will be explained when coordinating the session.
  • The instructor can ask one of the staff of the Manuscripts House to hold a session to explain the procedures used in the House to deal with the manuscript, including: sterilization, restoration, preservation, indexing, and other procedures related to the manuscript.
