Access to Digital Manuscripts
You can access the manuscript digitally through visiting the Islamic Manuscripts House during the official working hours. The specialized staff of the House scan the manuscripts and all of what provided to the House using the latest photography devices for manuscripts, and the archiving process in the (scanning room). They stored them on the House servers, connected to computers available in the House.
There are computers in the (digital manuscripts reading) rooms for men and women. These computers are available with high definition touch screens; through which you can enlarge the image of the manuscript to a very large degree while maintaining the high resolution.
There is an official of the room who assists visitors in obtaining and browsing the required manuscript. You can also use the search service on the site here to access the manuscript and browse a sample of it.
Access the original manuscript:
The Manuscripts House has (original manuscript reading) rooms for both men and women. The specialized staff in the House extracted the manuscripts from the (preserving manuscripts) room and make sure that they are in a good condition to browse. Then, they prepare the manuscripts with their browsing tools.
There is also a printing room for both men and women, where the manuscript or a part of it can be photographed under the supervision of the relevant official.
There is also an investigation and publication room, which the researcher can use to be close to the scientific sources of his research.
You can apply to browse the original manuscript based on the following:
- Be a registered student in one of the universities or academic bodies (master or PhD student)
- The required manuscript should be related to the research topic of the master’s or PhD thesis.
- The number of manuscripts required should not exceed 3 manuscripts.
- No part of the manuscript should be photographed without reference to the room supervisor. Photography is done with the devices of the Islamic manuscript House.
- The application must be submitted at least one week in advance so that our staff can study the application and take the necessary action.
- In some cases, it is not allowed to browse the original manuscript either because of the manuscript’s privacy, or because it is under restoration, or other cases that the relevant official estimates.
- Studying the manuscript is for a limited time and is during the days and times of official working hours only. The number of sessions can’t be exceeded more than twice for the manuscript. So, please make sure that you get all the information required in the session.
The required papers:
- A letter from the university or academic body proving your enrollment as a registered student.
- A letter from the research supervisor indicating the subject or area of the research.
- Manuscript application form, which can be downloaded from here, including all information, the most important of which is the complete manuscript number, its name, its author’s name and part number (if available).

Borrowing manuscripts
Institutions and official bodies can borrow the manuscripts for the purpose of displaying them in an exhibition or presenting them to the public for scientific or cultural purposes, provided that the requesting institution meets the appropriate security and environmental standards for displaying the manuscript. The application is submitted at least three months in advance by contacting the official of the House, through the contact information provided on the Contact Us page or by Ask the Keeper
